Located in the heart of Surry Hills, this project saw the transformation of The Village Hostel into Little Drifter, a modern, community-driven hostel that captures the vibrant character of its neighbourhood. The refurbishment redefined the guest experience, balancing affordability with comfort and style.
The works included a full upgrade of bathroom and shower facilities, delivering clean and contemporary amenities throughout. Accommodation was modernised with the introduction of private four-bed dorms and refurbished shared dormitories, now equipped with air-conditioning, secure app-based access, and enhanced in-room features.
Communal spaces were revitalised with new fitouts to the shared kitchen, lounge, and dining areas, designed to foster connection among guests. Externally, the courtyard and alfresco dining zones were rejuvenated to include BBQ and relaxation areas, creating inviting outdoor hubs. Modern technology was seamlessly integrated, with app-based check-in, digital key access, and improved lighting systems enhancing both convenience and security.
The result is a refreshed, guest-focused hostel that reflects Sydney’s energetic spirit, The Village, Surry Hills now stands as one of the city’s most welcoming and design-led destinations for travellers.
