ABACORP was engaged to deliver the highly specialised fitout of the IMAX Theatre located within the newly developed W Hotel Sydney, setting a new benchmark in premium cinema experiences. Situated in the heart of Darling Harbour, this state-of-the-art theatre integrates world-class audio-visual technology with luxury hospitality design.

The scope included the construction and fitout of an ultra-high-definition IMAX theatre, featuring custom acoustic wall linings, tiered stadium seating, high-end finishes, and bespoke lighting. The project also incorporated a fully integrated projection room, large-format screen installation, and advanced AV systems to accommodate IMAX’s latest laser technology.

Front-of-house areas were designed to reflect the W Hotel’s bold and contemporary aesthetic, including a premium lounge entry, ticketing and concessions zone, and custom joinery with ambient feature lighting. ABACORP worked in close coordination with global cinema consultants, AV technicians, and the hotel’s project team to meet precise design and performance standards.

Given the complexity of building within an iconic 5-star hotel, ABACORP executed the works under strict compliance, security, and staging protocols, ensuring minimal disruption to the broader development program.
