ABACORP was appointed to deliver a major upgrade to the iconic Event Cinemas George Street, one of Sydney’s busiest cinema destinations. The works focused on modernising key public areas including the candy bar, select cinema theatres, and amenities, while maintaining full operational continuity throughout the project.

The candy bar underwent a complete transformation, featuring a new layout, high-end joinery, upgraded lighting, and feature finishes to enhance customer flow and elevate the overall retail experience. Cinemas were refurbished with new wall linings, upgraded acoustic treatments, floor finishes, and select seating enhancements to align with Event Cinemas’ evolving premium cinema standards.

The amenities throughout the complex were also upgraded with contemporary finishes, improved lighting, and accessibility enhancements in line with DDA compliance. All services, including electrical, mechanical, and fire were coordinated closely with centre management and cinema operations to ensure minimal disruption to patrons.

Working in a high-traffic CBD environment, ABACORP executed the project under a staged delivery model to maintain public access and safety, while meeting tight timeframes. The final result delivers a fresh, premium cinema experience at one of Sydney’s most recognised entertainment venues.
